Textile industry being a major employment consuming industry in the country and also it has different activities across the value chain of fibre to fashion and their interlinking also is complex depending upon the business model used by various entrepreneurs.The manpower availability with right skills and its planning becomes critical and important forthe human resource department in a textile mill.The objectives, key steps, tools and techniques used in the process of manpower planning and assessment are explained in this paper. Also, this paper throws the light on work force behavioral aspects impacts on it and the challenges faced by the HR department in this process are discussed in this paper series part 1.
