Mission

In the past two decades, many applications of geosynthetics have proved their value in civil engineering projects. This new class of material has added entirely a new dimension to the world of geotechnical engineering. Geosynthetic materials like Geotextiles, Geogrids, Geonets, Geocell, and Geomembranes are used in various civil engineering activities. The aims of setting up of Centre of Excellence for Geotech at BTRA are as follows.

To create awareness for the use of geosynthetic products and to facilitate the evaluation and development of geosynthetics
To encourage the entrepreneurs to develop geosynthetics indigenously by providing know how and developing samples at BTRA pilot plant

The Centre of Excellence for Geotech at BTRA will certainly help the growth of the geotech sector in India in the years to come.
