Plasma treatment for surface activation and dyrophilization
Plasma is a surface modification technique which is preferred over mechanical and chemical treatment because the desired properties of the materials are retained. We have used plasma treatment for surface modification of the polyester fabric using helium gas. Untreated polyester fabric is hydrophobic in nature and repels the water. However, after plasma treatment reactive functional groups are created on the surface of polyester fabric and it becomes water absorbent without affecting the required mechanical properties like tensile and tear strength.
