A very warm welcome to Bombay Textile Research Association (BTRA). It is my pleasure to introduce you to this organization that has evolved immensely since its beginnings in 1954 by the Union Government of India and the then leaders of the Mumbai Textile Industry for catering to the needs of Research and Development in textile, training, testing, consultancy and extension of the textile industry in India.

I had the privilege of taking this responsibility as the Director of this organization. Our services include chemical, mechanical and biological testing of textile related material. BTRA test laboratories are equipped with state of art testing facilities which is accredited by National Accreditation Board for Laboratories (NABL), Government of India as per ISO 17025. It gives me immense satisfaction that we are established as a center of excellence for Geotech by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India for testing geosynthetic materials and the same is accredited with NABL and GAI-LAP Accreditation of Geosynthetics Institute, USA. We have also started the Soil and Asphalt laboratory to perform tests on soil and pavement materials.

BTRA is climbing the ladder of success steadily in highly competitive scientific research and is coming into limelight on the national and international stage by maintaining the uniqueness in the research field. The organization has chosen contemporary frontier areas of research along with industry partnership in the fields of technical textiles.

Our human resources are enriched with research experience backed by excellent academic and corporate expertise. With time we are upgrading our testing facilities and proposing new projects in line with the market trends and social requirements.
